DEVONsphere Express' user interface consists of a pop-over window that appears when you click DEVONsphere Express' icon 
on the right hand side of the menu bar (among the so-called "menu extras").

With live updating switched on DEVONsphere Express focuses on whatever you select in other applications, e.g., your frontmost document in TextEdit, the web page you're looking at in Safari, or the file you've selected in the Finder. While this is often useful, sometimes it is not, e.g., when you need to continue working with the shown results for the moment. Therefore DEVONsphere Express allows you to stop live updating.
Live updating is signalized by a little green icon at the right-hand end of the input field.
Live update is switched on and active.
Live update is temporarily paused.
Live update is switched off; click to switch it on again.DEVONsphere Express' menu can also be placed anywhere on the screen. Detatch it from the menu bar by dragging its title bar. It becomes a panel floating above all other windows.
Drag it back near the menu bar to reattach it, click the attach button 
of the panel, or close it wit the close button 
and click the menu extra icon again to reopen attached to the menu bar.
Right- or ⌃︎Control-click DEVONsphere Express' icon to show a menu with a number of useful commands from the Action menu.
Click the menu extra icon to close the menu/panel or press the ⎋︎ key.
